It’s been seven years since Calvin first took a seat next to Melanie, on a bench upstairs at the Rickshaw Stop. Flight Facilities was playing. It was a Wednesday! Why was either of them there at all?

 

Well, they were young, and when you’re young you can stay out late on a weekday, and when you’re young, you fall in love quickly - and they did. 

 

Over the ensuing years, Melanie and Calvin grew together through many experiences. They celebrated each other, supported each other, danced, hugged, danced and hugged some more, and their lives became intertwined.

 

Together, they’ve looked up at the stars from many cities around the world. Melanie has grown her career as a designer, and created hundreds of paintings. Calvin’s worked in data and cryptocurrency, backpacked across Southeast Asia, and become obsessed with jiu-jitsu.

 

In February 2017, Melanie and Calvin moved in together. That's when Melanie learned that Calvin spends more time in the bathroom than she thinks is productive, or even possible, and when Calvin learned that Melanie likes having her entire closet and makeup collection spread across their bedroom - for ease of access, he guesses. And they both learned that neither of them can cook very well, though luckily, that’s starting to change.

Their bond grew even stronger. And on March 10, 2018, Calvin brought Melanie back to the Rickshaw Stop. Six years prior, in that same venue, he’d asked her where she was from, if she liked the band that was playing, and if she would like to go to the art museum together. This time, he asked her one more question, and she said - yes, of course!
